DUVARLARIN DİLİ: GRAFFITI / LANGUAGE OF THE WALL: GRAFFITI

Bu sergiyi en yakın arkadaşım Selen ile merakla bekliyorduk ve geçen hafta ziyaret etme fırsatı bulduk. Açıkçası benim pek fazla bir beklentim yoktu fakat gerçekten farklı mesajlarla dolu özgür ruhlu sanatçılar beni etkilemeyi başardı. Graffiti üzerinde hep negatif bir etiket olsa da, bence graffiti insanların sisteme meydan okuması için alternatif bir alan yaratıyor, bu da aslında bir şekilde kendini ifade edebilme biçimi ve hayata bir bakış açısı. Tıpkı 1990'ların hip-hop akımının motto'larından biri olan 'Fight the Power' gibi graffiti yapımı da politikleştirilmiştir ve hoş görülmemiştir. Fakat graffiti büyük şehirlerden tutun da mağaralara kadar her yerde ve bir iletişim şekli hatta bir 'networking faaliyeti' haline gelmiş durumda. Böyle bir farkındalık yarattığından dolayı sergiyi çok başarılı buldum. 'Graffiti sanat mıdır ?' sorusuna hiç girmiyorum bile.

We were looking forward to this exhibition with my best friend Selen. I wasn't expecting much to be honest but the messages relayed through graffiti can really have an impact on individuals (at least me !) There is a negative label attached to graffiti but it is a space that allows to trigger people's imagination, challenge the system and open up a space for communication. It is an alternative space to express yourself likewise 1990s hip-hop movement in U.S.A 'Fight the Power' (as hip-hop challenging the system), these movements both graffiti and hip-hop have been politicized but right now as everything is in flux their meanings are on the verge of change. I find the exhibition successful in the sense that it challenges what we take for granted.

TATLIŞ PARTİSİ/ DAY N' NIGHT OUT WITH THE DARLINGS

Evet, uzun süredir yazamadım maalesef istediğim ilhamı yakalayamıyordum ama bugün gerçekten ilham verici oldu. Hem kampüsümün güzel atmosferi hem de bir o kadar güzel ve tatlış dostlarımla bu resimlerin çekilmesi kaçınılmazdı ! Harika bir gündü, bunu gerçekleştiren Tatlış Partimize sevgiler :) Special thanks ise resimlerimi çeken İpek Yavuz'a, kuşların kuşu ;)

I haven't been blogging for a while but I wasn't really capturing the spirit and the look that I wanted so today is the day to break the chain ! With my lovely campus and with my awesome friends, I was able to capture a good tune.

Şimdi gelelim bugünkü görünümüme. Beni bilenler zaten rahat, şık, klasik ve ilginç detayları yakalamayı seven bir tarafım olduğunu biliyor. Bugün de yüksek tempolu bir gün geçirdiğimden gündüzden geceye uyum sağlayabilecek rahat bir 'look'un peşinden gittim. Gardrobuma yeni giren T by Alexander Wang gömleğim vazgeçilmezlerimden biri olacağa benziyor, eh zaten yırtık skinny jean ve House of Holland x Superga iş birliği olan spor ayakkabılarımın bana bir 'edge' kattığını düşünüyorum. Aksesuarlarım high fashion markalarından Taksim pasajlarına kadar uzanan bir çeşitlilik içerisinde.

Today as my style goes, I prefered to be chic and comfy at the same time. I really find the beauty in detailing the basics so I try to use a lot of accessory in my outfits. Because I had a busy schedule today, I had to choose a look that was going to be suitable for both day and night and also it has to be comfortable. I hope I captured a nice look ;)

BOĞAZİÇİ GRADUATES IN STYLE

Bu aralar pek fazla yazamadığımın farkındayım ama mezuniyet törenlerinden mezuniyet törenine koşuyordum :) Ben bu yıl mezun olmasam da (4 dersim kaldı bir şey de değil aslında, değil mi :) ? ) arkadaşlarımla beraber bu coşkuyu, mutluluğu ve gururu paylaşmak istedim.Çırağan Saray'ında gerçekleşen balomuzdan kareleri ve stilimi/look'umu sizlerle paylaşıyorum.

Hey everyone, I was busy attending our graduation ceremonies and I am not even graduating yet. But I have 4 modules left and I wanted to have fun with my friends. Some of you may know but my university "Boğaziçi" is Turkey's best school and it is really hard to get in. It nurtures the greatest minds from all over Turkey and every graduate is an unique mind. MY SECOND DATE WITH ANDY WARHOL / ANDY WARHOL İLE İKİNCİ BULUŞMA

Bazılarınızın bildiği üzere şuanda Pera Müzesi'nde Andy Warhol sergisi devam ediyor. Ben de bir Andy Warhol sever olarak bu sergiyi tabii ki de kaçırmadım (!) İkinci buluşmam Warhol ile çünkü daha önce kendisinin balmumundan heykelini Londra'da bulunan Madame Tussauds Müzesi'nde görmüştüm, birtakım pop-art eserleri ile.. 20.yy yılın en ilham veren "artist"lerinden olan Warhol'un kendisi de adeta bir sanat eseri zaten. Her ne kadar kendinden önce de pop-art'çılar olsa da kimse onun kadar adını sanat camiasında duyuramadı. Warhol'un kapitalizmi algılayışı; kızılderililer, nesli tükenmiş hayvanlar gibi konulara pop-art'ı ile parmak basması ve pop-art'ı kullanışı aslında hep garantiye aldığımız şeylere kafa tutuyor diye düşünüyorum. Ben de bu temeli sarsma mücadelesini çok seviyorum.

Nowadays in the city, in Istanbul one of the most fabulous and cool things to do is most probably the Andy Warhol exhibition. I was always a fan of his work since he was one of the influential names of 20th century art scene with Picasso, Matisse and Dali. I have seen Warhol when I visited Madame Tussauds Museum in London with a limited work of his pop-art.

Andy Warhol was a succesful project since he, himself is considered to be an art project itself in terms of his journey to create his image. This is one of the reasons why, Warhol was very influential in pop-art scene and made a name for himself and he became a rising star within contemporary pop-artists.

What I like about his work is his perception of capitalism; also cares about things like the endangered species, Native Americans and lastly he uses pop-art in a way that it challenges what we've taken for granted.

I like his effort to do something groundbreaking within the capitalist system.
