LONDRA'DA ŞEHİR HAYATINDAN UZAKTA: CHISWICK HOUSE / LONDON COUNTRYSIDE: REMARKABLE CHISWICK HOUSE

Ev dediğimizde aklımıza en rahat ettiğimiz ve en güvenli alan gelir fakat Chiswick House'un adı her ne kadar ev olsa da aslında Lord Burlington'ın(1729) Barok stilinden bıkıp İtalyan stilinde arkadaşlarını eğlendirebileceği bir villa yapma fikrinden ileri gelir. Bu evin ilginç yanı İngiliz mimarisinden hiç bir iz taşımaması...Ama durum şu ki ev bahçesiyle beraber İngiliz özelliğini kazanıyor. Bu nedenle ev ile bahçe arasındaki bağ "ulusal mimari"yi yansıtma açısından önem kazanıyor. Gittiğimiz gün hava çok güzeldi bu nedenle güzel kareler yakalayabildik, umarım hoşunuza gider...

Not: Modern mimari bu tarz binalardan sonra dünyanın çeşitli yerlerinde hız kazanmaya başlıyor.

When you say "home" you would think of your "messy order" in your room and the place you feel most comfortable right ? It is not working in 1700s though. Lord Burlington who comes from a rich family and one of the first architects - decided to do this Italian-style villa to entertain his guests. He was inspired by Palladio's work especially Villa Capra. The house itself signifies a discontinuity from British style architecture but what makes it British is its gardens.

LONDON WARDROBE: WOLF LOAFER

Bugün bir arkadaşım için Oxford Street'te hediye bakarken kendi payıma düşeni de aldım :) Uzun zamandır bir loafer istiyordum ama zımbalı olanları pek sevmiyordum. Bunun yanında kurt figürü de çok hoşuma gidiyordu. Bu loafer'ları görünce bir taşla iki kuş vurmuş gibi oldum :)

Today, I went to Oxford Street because I was gift searching for a friend. While I was searching I get my share also :) This season's phenomenon animal print trend evolved into literal animal shapes on flats. I really like the wolf pattern on flats and I was planning to get one loafer also so two birds with one stone !

Hava Londra'da o kadar soğuk ki ! Bu nedenle jean en büyük kurtarıcı oluyor hem rahat hem de doğru kombinle bir o kadar şıklar :) Benim jean üzerine jean denememde bugün aldığım kot önü deri gibi arkası ise kot kumaşı şeklinde - üzerine ise kot gömlek ile daha "casual" bir hava katmak istedim.

It is freezing cold in London. So, jeans are the biggest savers , comfy + with right combination = chic ! Today, I bought a new jean for my London wardrobe which is leatherish on front and jean at the back. I combined this with a jean shirt, old Converse and wool scarf, hope you like it !

Londra'da haftasonu o kadar çok yapacak şey var ki insan şaşırıyor ama modayla ilgilenen biri olarak her hafta bir alışveriş mekanı seçip sezonu vitrinlerden takip etmeye bayılıyorum. Bugün de o günlerden biri işte :) Bugünkü ve dünkü keşiflerim... Biraz zıt kutuplara oynuyorum sanırım ama vintage gibi eskiyi özendiren bir trend'den galaksilere ışınlandım :) Hem yarın doğum günün neden geleceğe yatırım yapmayayım ki ?

At weekends I am always confused to what to do because there are so much to from exhibitions to shopping streets. Well my plan was to head to Oxford Street. As a person who is interested in fashion I like to be updated of new season trends and collections. So, today I went to the opposite pole of vintage, to the future ! I love the galaxy print and the colors in it : not too bright not too pastel as well - just the right measure ;) And why not invest to future tomorrow is my birthday anyways :))

VINTAGE WARDROBE IN LONDON / LONDRA'DAKİ VINTAGE DOLABIM

Türkiye'de çok ilgililerin güzel sergilediği vintage stiline Londra'ya gelince ayak uydurmamak mümkün değil. Çünkü burdaki herkes eskilerini saklayıp giymeyi çok seviyor ve ister istemez siz de aynı kültüre ayak uydurmak istiyorsunuz. Aslında vintage ürünleri ne kadar çok sevsem de kafama göre klasik parçaları bulamıyordum. Fakat Londra'ya gelince Oxford Street'teki Urban Outfitters'ı keşfetmemle kendi vintage stilimi bulmuş oldum. Bugün Levis'ın 90'lı yılları yansıtan kot ceketini ve taba rengi bir Cambridge Satchel aldım Harrods'tan. Bunun dışında puantiyeli Superga'larım House of Holland iş birliği ile yapılmış bir flatform. Gözlüklerim ise en klasik Clubmaster Ray-Ban'lardan - çok retro değil mi :) 

Haftaya Sarah Mower(vogue.com'da moda eleştirmeni) ve Amerika'da ünlü bir vintage butiğinin sahibinin resepsiyonuna gidiyorum bu yüzden bu parçalarla casual-chic bir hava yakalamayı umuyorum-takipte kalın :) !

This is my second week in London and when you look around you could tell that vintage is a part of London culture where is widely used in streets. So when I see people wearing stylish/old clothes you want to have some vintage items as well. With my discovery of Urban Outfitters at Oxford Street I found my vintage soul. I got a Levis' jean jacket from 90s and from Harrods I got a brown Cambridge Satchel. Besides this, my flatforms are Superga's collaboration with House of Holland. At last the shades are the most classic model of Ray-Ban Clubmaster- sooo retro right :) 

Next week I am attending an event called Decades in Bloomsbury Institute on vintage fashion. One of the guests of the talk will be Sarah Mower who writes reviews about fashion shows in vogue.com and I am really exicited to be in there :) !

V&A's BALLGOWNS British Glamour Since 1950 Exhibition

Aslında 1950'lerden önceleri de vardı 1800'lerden başlıyor sergi. Daha eski kıyafetler müzede insanların bulundukları ortama göre (ev,davetler gibi) ayrılmış durumdaydı. Döneme ait birçok eski aksesuar bulmak da mümkün. 1800'lerin ortasından sonra ticaret ve iletişimin gelişmesiyle ürünlerin kendi ülkeleri dışındaki yerlere ulaşmasıyla farklı stiller biraz olsun ortaya çıkıyor. Sergi ağırlıklı olarak McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, Holly Futton, Christopher Kane gibi İngiliz tasarımcılara yer verirken dünyada kabul görmüş(Prada, Helmut Lang, Jean Paul Gaultier, Commes des Garçons) ve kırmızı halı da giyilen kıyafetleri de görmek mümkündü.

This exhibition was really good to see the contemporaries and older styles together. The exhibition starts off with 1800s and after 1870s the commerce became widely spread and styles travelled a lot. From older generation seeing Poiret's kimono dress and Elsa Schiaparelli's work was really nice. Other than that you could also explore the red carpet dresses in the exhibition. Most of the dresses were from Westwood and McQueen.

TATE MODERN HIGHLIGHTS - TATE MODERN'DEN RESİMLER

Bu yıl Erasmus programı ile Sonbahar dönemini Londra'da geçiriyorum. Londra'da gidilecek görülecek ve keşfedilecek birçok yer var ama önce temel taşları oturtmak lazım. Çok merakla gitmek istediğim Tate Modern beni hiç hayal kırıklığına uğrattırmadı. Gerçekten soyut ve modern bir sanat anlayışını benimseyenler için doğru yer ve sizi gerçekten düşünmeye sevkeden bir mekan. Çünkü bazı ressamların ya da fotoğraf sanatçılarının yaşadığı dönemler büyük dünya savaşları sonrası bu yüzden bu tarz yıkıcı olaylar sanatlarında iz bırakmış. Bunun dışında 20.yy'ın daha bilindik isimlerinin Matisse, Picasso ve pop-art akımının eserleri benim en merakla görmek istediklerimdi. İşte benim Tate Modern'im... This autumn I am in London ! When I came here I heard many things about London like how dynamic the city life was and there is so much to explore and yeah I confirm that :) I really wanted to visit Tate Modern which is a really impressive art gallery on contemporary art. I really enjoyed the collections they offered some pop-art, some Matisse&Picasso and some of them just blows your mind with the thought and the roots of inspiration to it.
