MY SECOND DATE WITH ANDY WARHOL / ANDY WARHOL İLE İKİNCİ BULUŞMA

Bazılarınızın bildiği üzere şuanda Pera Müzesi'nde Andy Warhol sergisi devam ediyor. Ben de bir Andy Warhol sever olarak bu sergiyi tabii ki de kaçırmadım (!) İkinci buluşmam Warhol ile çünkü daha önce kendisinin balmumundan heykelini Londra'da bulunan Madame Tussauds Müzesi'nde görmüştüm, birtakım pop-art eserleri ile.. 20.yy yılın en ilham veren "artist"lerinden olan Warhol'un kendisi de adeta bir sanat eseri zaten. Her ne kadar kendinden önce de pop-art'çılar olsa da kimse onun kadar adını sanat camiasında duyuramadı. Warhol'un kapitalizmi algılayışı; kızılderililer, nesli tükenmiş hayvanlar gibi konulara pop-art'ı ile parmak basması ve pop-art'ı kullanışı  aslında hep garantiye aldığımız şeylere kafa tutuyor diye düşünüyorum. Ben de bu temeli sarsma mücadelesini çok seviyorum.

Nowadays in the city, in Istanbul one of the most fabulous and cool things to do is most probably the Andy Warhol exhibition. I was always a fan of his work since he was one of the influential names of 20th century art scene with Picasso, Matisse and Dali. I have seen Warhol when I visited Madame Tussauds Museum in London with a limited work of his pop-art. 

Andy Warhol was a succesful project since he, himself is considered to be an art project itself in terms of his journey to create his image. This is one of the reasons why, Warhol was very influential in pop-art scene and made a name for himself and he became a rising star within contemporary pop-artists. 

What I like about his work is his perception of capitalism; also cares about things like the endangered species, Native Americans and lastly he uses pop-art in a way that it challenges what we've taken for granted. 

I like his effort to do something groundbreaking within the capitalist system.

ISTANCOOL FESTIVAL

Bu günü uzun zamandır bekliyordum ve sonunda ISTANCOOL !!! (cidden çok cool'du, ismini hak ediyor ;) ). Ben her ne kadar Waris Ahluwalia için gitmiş olsam da diğer katılımcılar da süperdi ! Hepsinden değerlerimizin, tarihimizin, kültürümüzün ve zanaatkarlığın ne kadar önemli olduğunu öğrendim. Geçmişi Ahluwalia'nın da söylediği gibi bir rehber olarak kullanıp geleceğe bakmak bizi biz yapan şey aslında... Bugün aldığım mesajlar benim kişisel gelişimimde büyük bir rol oynayacak gibi görünüyor..

I have been waiting for this moment for months, ISTANCOOL was finally here and its so sad that its over :( As the name suggests the festival was really cool :) Anyways today's organization make me think about what we have taken in this world and it was really fun doing it with the panel participants. The most impactful person among the crowd for me was Waris Ahluwalia... He truly appriciate his heritage, history and craftmanship and also he enmeshes all this past into "now", our modern days. I really like his vision and fusion of past/ tradition/values and present/ modern./cosmopolitanism/multiculturalism/globalisation. As he said what makes us "us" is that taking past as a guideline and look into the future... The messages I got from the panelists were very valuable for me and it looks like I'll be contemplating a lot this week.

ARKADAŞLARLA SOKAK STİLİ JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE KONSERİ EDITION / STREET STYLE WITH FRIENDS JT ISTANBUL CONCERT EDITION

Aman tanrııım !! Hala konserin etkisinden çıkamadım :)) O kadar güzeldi ki, JT bize harika bir gece yaşattı gerçekten final ve paper teslimlerinden önce bal-kaymak gibi oldu valla :)) Önce Pusher Love Girl ile başlayan setlist'imiz Rock Your Body, SexyBack, Lovestoned gibi hareketli şarkılarla devam etti ve Until The End Of Time, Cry Me A River gibi yavaş şarkılarla ilk set son buldu. Sonraki set'imiz ise daha çok 20/20 Experience albümünden gitti ve Justin özel coverlarını bizlerle paylaştı mesela MJ'in Human Nature'ı gibi. Bu gece için ise can dostlarım Selen, Miryam ve canlı telefon bağlantısıyla Mirrors şarkısına eşlik eden İpek kuşuma ve yeni arkadaşlarım Çağman ve Yağmur'a teşekkür ediyorum ve "WE ARE THE DANCERS" diyerek konser stilime geçiyorum :)

Konserde ayakta uzun süre duracağımı bildiğim için hem rahat hem de cool bir kombinleme yapmaya çalıştım. Basic'leri kontrast dokuları kullanma yoluna gittim artık benim signature'ım oldu bu formül:

OMG !!!! Justin Timberlake was here. last night. and IT WAS AMAZING !!! Just before my finals I am so pumped up right now that I feel like I could ace every class :)) His setlist started with Pusher Love Girl and he continued with his upbeat hits like Rock Your Body, SexyBack, Lovestoned. The mood slowed down with Until the End of Time and Cry Me A River.

The second set was mainly from the 20/20 Experience and his covers like MJ's Human Nature (R.I.P). I had a great time with my besties and my new friends so there is only one thing to say : "WE ARE THE DANCERS" 

Knowing that I was going to stand up for too long, I decided to wear something comfy and cool at the same time. Detailing the basics and combining the contrasting patterns have became my signature style, now.

YAZ GELDİ ! / IT'S SUMMERTIME !

Pazar kahvaltıları hep en sevdiğim olmuştur. Bugün ailemle havanın güzelliğinden faydalanarak, güzel bir gün geçirdik :) Eataly'nin marketi hep favorimiz olmuştur sonra da vitrin gezmece ve tatlı sohbetler :) Umarım siz de harika bir Pazar günü geçiriyorsunuzdur !

Ben bugün hava ve modumla da uygun olarak rahat ve neşeli bir şeyler giymek istedim. 

Dantel detaylı çiçekli elbisem ve bej hırkam Zara, çantamı Harrods'tan Cambridge Satchel kısmından almıştım. Gözlüklerim ise artık klasikleşmiş olan Rayban Clubmaster'lar.

Long Sunday breakfasts have always been my favorite one. Today with the nice weather in Istanbul, we decided to do a brunch with my family. Then we visited the colorful market in Eataly and this was accompanied with a nice chat ;) I hope you are having a lovely Sunday !

Today, to comply with the weather and my mood I preferred to wear something comfy and fun. 

My floral dress with lace detailing and my beige cardigan is from Zara and my bag is from Harrods, I got it from the Cambridge Satchel section. My sunnies are the classic Rayban model Clubmasters.

KAMPÜS STİLİ / THE CAMPUS LOOK

Geçen haftalarda Boğaziçi Üniversitesi Moda Topluluğu'nun objektifine yakalandım (!) Stilimi farklı buldukları ve moda algıları, anlayışları için teşekkürler :) ! 

O gün Tanju Babacan workshop'umuz vardı ve hem rahat hem de şık bir kombin yapmayı amaçlamıştım. Tek parçayı yani blazer'ımı öne çıkararak öbür parçalarımı elimden geldiği kadar basic ve monokrom tutmaya çalıştım. Maskülen-feminen stilden de çok hoşlandığımdan blazer'ım bunun için harika bir ifade ediş biçimi oldu ;) 

In the past weeks I captured the attention of the Boğaziçi University Fashion Society (!) 

That day, I was going to attend one of the workshops in which the creator of the Red Beard brand Tanju Babacan was attending. So I needed to pick a style which was going to be comfortable and chic and I guess I attained it with my blazer :) I tried to keep my other items basic and monocrome so that my blazer could have the spotlight and I think it worked ;) I really like the masculine-feminine trend so if you are going to have a masculine-feminine look my advice is to get a good quality blazer.

Sanırım bu post, bu temadaki üçüncü post olacak :) Viyana'da okuyan arkadaşımız Ecem ve İtalya'da okuyan arkadaşımız Gizem İstanbul'a döndüler ve hemen Taksim'de buluştuk. Harika bir gün geçirdik, hava çok da iyi olmamasına rağmen... çünkü dostlarınızla hangi koşullarda beraber olursanız o günler çok neşeli ve aydınlık geçer :)

I think this is going to be the third post with the same theme :) Our friends who are studying in Vienna and Italy came to Istanbul for a visit. It was a very pleasant day even though the weather wasn't that nice. However when you are with your besties, the weather and the other things do not matter what is important is to be together.

Plus I want to thank Marco for his patience when we were shopping in the bazaar, grazie/gracias :)

MADEMOISELLE C: "FASHION BEYOND CREDITS, CREDIBILITY & CLOTHES"

Biraz önce Mademoiselle C'yi izledim ve itiraf etmeliyim ki moda dünyasının perde arkası ve Roitfeld'in dergi ile kitap arasında kalan CR Fashion Book'un hazırlanışı öyle elimize hazır geldiği gibi değil ! 

Hele 50 yaşını da geçtiyseniz bu işler hiç de kolay olmuyor fakat Roitfeld gerçekten çok çalışkan. Tempolu yaşamında, iş ve aile hayatı arasında çok güzel bir denge kurmuş bu da gerçekten hayran olunacak bir şey bence :) Elinize fırsat geçerse filmi bir şekilde izleyin özellikle modaseverler hayal kırıklığına uğramayacak ! 

Filmde Roitfeld'in birçok tasarımcı, model ve sanatçı arkadaşları eşlik ediyor, zaten Tom Ford, Karl Lagerfeld ve Mario Testino Roitfeld'in tanınmış dostları ve moda kariyerinde ona yardım edenler arasında onları görmemek olmazdı :) Bunun yanında Diane von Furstenburg, Donetella Versace, Kate Upton, Linda Evangelista, Kanye West, Beyonce, Ricardo Tisci ve daha bir çok isim bu filmde bulunuyor. 

CR Fashion Book projesi filmin bel kemiğini oluştururken, Roitfeld'in defileden defileye, davetten davete ve çekimlden çekime koşuşturmasını da görüyoruz. Aslında algılanan "parıltılı  hayat" kavramının aksini  görüyoruz. Fakat Roitfeld bu yaşam stilini ve işini o kadar çok seviyor ki hala çalışmaya devam ediyor.

Just saw the movie and it was amazing to see the behind the scenes of the fashion world and the making of CR Fashion Book. We can see that Roitfeld is so successful in juggling his work and family life and it is something admirable. If you like the fashion world and everything about it this is your kind of movie !

In the movie we see a lot of friends of Roitfeld, the usual trio of Tom Ford, Lagerfeld and Mario Testino was an already given. Apart from them Ricardo Tisci, Kanye West, Beyonce, Kate Upton, Linda Evangelista, Diane von Furstenburg, Donetella Versace are some of the names in this fashion journey.

What we perceive as the glamourous lifestyle of fashion is not that glomourous but Roitfeld love her job so much that she is still working in fashion industry and that is fascinating. 

 "I’m always doing new projects and I think it gives me a lot of energy , and maybe because when you like something you are never working, I love what I’m doing. Maybe that is the secret, to like what you are doing so you can run and run" ( hope to become like this in my 60s as well :) )
